On mum's birthday wandered down to the village green to have a look at the old plaque commemorating the treaty signed by Ecgbert and Eanred in 829 to end the war between Wessex and Northumbria - thus creating the first Kin ("Overlord") of England. Something I now find fascinating but totally boring as a kid!!!!!!!!!!
